Rig Drilling Mat Operations | Suncor Mat Solutions
| PROJECT: Create and provide a Drill Pad for Suncor Energy SAGD Drilling Operations. CHALLENGE: In order to accommodate drilling 36 wellhead pairs and a self-propelled 3,000-ton drilling rig we needed to build a pad that would suit the weight capacity and the application needs. As well, this pad needed to be disassembled and reassembled at a new site every seven months, so any rig mat solution would need to be extremely durable. SERVICES: Services we provided included design, manufacture, and transport. SOLUTION: We created a solution with our C-Lock Interlocking Rig Mats scaled up to 12.5’ x 26’ each. These drilling mats are ideal for heavy equipment and drilling rigs and can be customized to suit specific applications. With respect to the need for durability and disassembly and reassembly, we selected our steel frame rig mats as they have the weight capabilities and they interlock for straightforward construction. Because of the steel frame, they can also be welded and repaired on-site as needed. |
